All courses will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis and will be held in-person at the Wyndham Garden State College. Hotel booking information is included with each course description.
HVAC Short Course — Chiller Fundamentals and Central Plant Application
April 30–May 2
Are you interested in gaining a fundamental understanding of basic thermodynamics and heat transfer? Are you knowledgeable about the strengths and weaknesses of common chiller plant system types? Do you want to learn about new water treatment technologies? If these topics appeal to you, then join us for our two- and one-half day Chiller Fundamentals and Central Plant Application course. The course topics are geared toward heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) supervisors, physical plant engineers, technicians, and anyone who wants to improve their knowledge in these areas.
Continuing Education Units (CEUs) and a certificate of completion will be awarded for 100 percent attendance and participation. Lunch will be provided each day.

Effective Facility Management Year 1 — Facility Infrastructure Fundamentals
May 14–16
Join us for one of the most successful programs offered by PSFEI—the Effective Facility Management short course, a three-year series of courses that provides an orderly progression of topics to enhance the knowledge, skills, abilities, and effectiveness of facility management personnel.
Effective Facility Management Year 1—Facility Infrastructure Fundamentals is designed to benefit facility managers, general maintenance technicians, and other facility maintenance or management personnel who need a basic understanding of how their facilities operate and best practices used for safe and efficient operations.
Continuing Education Units (CEUs) and a certificate of completion will be awarded for 100 percent attendance and participation. Participants who complete the three-year program (Years 1, 2, and 3 in any sequence) will be awarded with a plaque. Lunch will be provided each day.

Boiler Short Course — Boiler Fundamentals
June 4–6
This two- and one-half-day course provides instruction on boilers and central heating plant basics. It is intended for boiler operators, utility plant supervisors, maintenance managers, engineers, and others seeking basic knowledge of boilers and associated systems. Participants will learn the purpose, function, and operation of boilers. Beginning with a walk through of plant operations, instructors will cover the various aspects of boiler systems, from theoretical principles to practical applications. A highlight of the course will be a tour of Penn State’s West Campus Steam Plant, providing invaluable real-world exposure and examples of boiler operations.
Continuing Education Units (CEUs) and a certificate of completion will be awarded for 100 percent attendance and participation. Lunch will be provided each day.

Electrical Short Course — Electrical Generation and Microgrids
June 25–27
This two- and one-half-day course provides instruction on electrical generation and microgrids. It is designed to benefit electricians, supervisors, physical plant engineers, technicians, and others who need a fundamental understanding of common electrical generation assets and their role in creating a microgrid. This course will explore economic and operational analysis of different microgrid applications along with the ways in which microgrids are connected to existing facility and utility distribution systems.
Continuing Education Units (CEUs) and a certificate of completion will be awarded for 100 percent attendance and participation. Lunch will be provided each day.
