Michael Conchilla, P.E., CEM, BEAP is an Energy Engineer with the Penn State Facilities Engineering Institute (PSFEI). He is primarily responsible for providing technical expertise in demand-side facility energy conservation and management initiatives with a focus on performance contracting and the Commonwealth of PA’s Guaranteed Energy Savings Act (GESA) program, as well as supporting PSFEI educational programs. Conchilla has over 27 years of experience in energy efficiency consulting and performance contracting. His areas of expertise include energy analysis and building simulation, energy audits, improving building performance, and measurement and verification (M&V). Prior to joining PSFEI, Conchilla worked for Quandel Construction Group in Harrisburg, PA where he led operations for their newly formed energy solutions division. Throughout his career he has managed and developed dozens of commercial energy conservation and infrastructure improvement projects for schools, universities, and local and state governments. Conchilla holds a Bachelor of Architectural Engineering from Penn State and a Master of Science in Civil and Architectural Engineering from the University of Colorado. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania and Colorado, a Certified Energy Manager (CEM) through the Association of Energy Engineers, and a certified Building Energy Assessment Professional (BEAP) through ASHRAE.
